TREE DRAWING ANALYSIS

Much like handwriting analysis, the style and details which a person uses to draw a tree can help paint a picture of the artist's personality by identifying feelings, interests, attitudes, and other unique personality traits. Psychologists, in fact, will often use drawing analysis to assist with patient treatment and therapy. The tree drawing analysis we are doing here is not meant to provide a diagnostic profile, rather it is simply for fun. Results can be enlightening, entertaining, or useful, and the analysis may provide you with  insight into your personality from a completely different perspective.

In preparation for the publication of an upcoming book detailing  tree drawing interpretation, I am looking for a few volunteers. Your participation will be completely anonymous. All I am asking is for you to submit your drawing of a tree and then answer a brief questionnaire about the subsequent analysis.  Your responses, based on what you already know about your own personality, will help us judge the quality and accuracy of our analysis. In exchange for your participation, you will be eligible to download a free electronic version of the book as soon as it is published.  The book details the subconscious mind's expressions in tree drawings, and it provides a step-by-step guide to help you analyze tree drawings yourself.  Publication will be in the spring of 2013.

Are you ready to play? The task is quite simple:

1. With either a pen or a pencil, draw a picture of a tree on a blank 8 ˝ x 11 sheet of white paper. There is no right, or wrong, way to draw a tree –simply finish the task in ten minutes or less. (You will not be judged on artistic ability). Identify the drawing in the lower right hand corner with ONLY your initials plus a 4-digit PIN number (i.e. "xyz1234") This will be your password to go online to view your analysis and respond to the survey. For your privacy and to avoid any bias on the part of those doing the analysis, NO NAME or other identification should be included. No individual personality results will be made public.

Take a clear, properly focused digital picture, or scan the entire drawing, and email the file to personalitree@alaska.net. Make sure that your identifying PIN number is clearly legible in the lower right hand corner of the page.

Optionally, the drawing may be mailed to*:

Tree
3705 Arctic  #297
Anchorage, AK 99503-5774

2.  Your drawing will be analyzed, then we will email you a link to view the results online and complete the survey.  The questionnaire should take you no more than a few minutes.  If you have not heard from us within two weeks of submitting your drawing, please contact us at personalitree@alaska.net.

Thank you for your willingness to participate in this study! Remember that this exercise is for fun, but then again, perhaps you may actually learn some new things about you and your personality.

*If you submitted a drawing by mail, you may view the analysis and complete the survey by editing the website address in the navigation bar above with a backslash (/) followed by your PIN then .htm
